THE INTERNSHIP & VOLUNTEER EXPERIENCE
The I.V. Experience is a program that gives college undergraduates, graduate students, and professionals quality, real world experience as they become deeply involved in programs and services offered at the Cambodian Association. Participants will create an individually customized work plan with different goals and responsibilities. Whether you are looking to volunteer or commit to an internship, we will develop an individualized experience that benefits you while giving you the chance to directly make an impact in the community.
To ensure the quality of the program, participants and the Cambodian Association will complete a mutual assessment before volunteers or interns are accepted into the program. The assessment helps focus the participant’s strengths and interests so that his or her skills are best utilized; we hope to reshape this experience so it benefits the participant to the highest level. The IV Experience is customizable based on the assessment. Participants must complete time-frame(s) of service registered to receive proper recognition for their services. Once the participant completes the IV Experience, we will help the individual with placing their work experience on their resume, provide references for future endeavors, and provide letters of recommendations based on the quality of work. We have many departments from which we offer various services and programs, thus participants have a wide range of opportunities to choose from.

Service to the Organization
Participants will help the organization with minor office work in the different departments as needed. Some of this work includes receptionist duties, paperwork filing, greeting clients, and assist with information sessions/workshops/classes. Each activity is dependent upon which department needs assistance.
Program Development
Participants get the opportunity to assist with program development within the organization. With the various projects that staffs coordinate, interns will assist with daily services, coordination of information session/workshops/classes, and help reassess current activities for more enriching programming.
Research
Participants will work on individual research depending on their major/interests within the department they are placed in. Research will consist of specific topics such as customs, history, traditions, policies, laws, social issues and more. At the end of the internship, the intern will submit a final project summarizing their findings. This project can be in the form of a short paper, article, web-page, video, audio or powerpoint presentation. The project may be highlighted on the official CAGP webiste and/or at events.
Public Relations
Participants will help with various community outreach and public relations initiatives so that our services, activities and major events reach the larger public. Responsibilities include creating fliers and handouts, mailing documents and letters, calling members and clients, and maintaining the CAGP social networking websites.
Fundraising
Participants will help with brainstorming and coordinating fundraising initiatives. They will directly participate in the fundraising committee meetings and help in various activities/events as it is created by the committee.
